10 Years Of Electronic Sessions
1. Guy J boat party NYE 2012 ( was 2012)
Guy has been our international resident now for the past 5 years, and twice a year we have had him on board the Thames boat parties. There is definitely something special about cruising along the Thames with 250 people on a boat in such intimate surroundings, dancing to one of the best DJs in the world as the sun is going down.
The summer ones have always held a special place in our hearts, but our fave was actually when Guy saw in 2012 NYE with us. It’s safe to say it’s hard to top Guy J playing just as the fireworks are going off as we are situated right next to Big Ben and the London Eye at midnight. It was an unusually warm evening too and Guy was smashing out endless tunes, such as 1000 words, 7.11 and Azimuth. Some of his best tracks. A truly memorable night.
2. Finnebassen Bank Holiday Sunday party.
Finn came down to play in May 2014 for us. It was probably the best set from a guest headliner we have heard in the whole 10 years of doing events. His music as many know, is special, and hearing it as the sun is going down on a lovely summer’s evening cruising up the Thames made it even more fitting. He closed with his huge banger ‘touching me’ which went down an absolute treat.
Finn turned up not feeling very well at all, but by the end of his set he looked as good as new, and was buzzing. He made a comment that he had never played such a cool intimate party and met so many clued up clubbers, which was a nice touch. He is definitely one of the names we always look to get back when we can, but this set and party in general really sticks out for us.
3. 8th birthday – Guy J & Nick Warren – Jamm
This was our first event at Jamm in Brixton, and the fact we are going back to the same venue for our 10th birthday says a lot. This party really worked at Jamm, the underground house party vibe really suits the venue, and Nick and Guy complimented each other perfectly, even spinning some tunes back to back. To have 2 legends on the circuit in a relatively intimate venue with a pumping sound system is always good, and to have it for our birthday, with all our regulars present, made it even more fitting. Nick Warren was even throwing in old classics from the Global Underground’s he compiled in the late 90’s along with many Way Out West classics including Space and Stealthman.
4. Henry Saiz, Jeremy Olander at Jamm
Another belter of an event at what is fast becoming our staple birthday venue. Henry and Jeremy play music that is synonymous with our parties, and the fact 800 people turned up to witness it said it all. Henry doesn’t play in London too much and it was his debut performance for ES where he belted out a number of his own productions from his long awaited artist album that had just been released.
Jeremy had been so popular on our boat party that we felt this was the right event to get him back too for this live set that went down a treat. We managed to get him down in between his world tour supporting Eric Prydz, and his style was very influenced by this with some incredible remixes that were perfect for the main room at Jamm’s stonking sound system.
5. Sonny Fodera
Sonny is another DJ that really worked on the boat. Being September, we had good weather, and as soon as we put tickets for this online they went virtually quicker than any we had done, so we knew it was going to be an up for it crowd.
It is not often that the whole boat’s crowd is on one deck, but this was one of the rare occasions that has happened, and it meant for an electric atmosphere. We always remember Sonny dropping ‘All the things’ as a particular highlight.
We would love to hear feedback from you as well on your fave events over the years.
We will also be giving away 10 free tickets to the birthday on April 9th to the first 10 people to email us after reading this. Just email us with your date of birth and 1 DJ you would like to see at ES this year.
